International Purple Day

This year’s international Purple Day fell on 26 March and people from around the world came together to raise awareness and teach others about epilepsy.

In true Smirthwaite style, the team went to great efforts to raise money for the charity Epilepsy Action, including a homemade cake sale and raffle.   We’re delighted to say that we raised over £200 that will help children affected by the condition.

Loving his Strato on the new Hi-Lo Electric Base

“We would say the chair has been successful in supporting our pupils participation and posture during class activities. The wheels make the chair very mobile. We would also say the pupil really enjoys using the seat and he is happy to use it in a variety of environments.”

Two Portable Hip Spica’s find a new home!

The Geoff Smirthwaite Foundation (Smirthwaite’s affiliated Charity) was approached by Allison Beattie who was fundraising for the purchase of Portable Hip Spica Seats for the children having hip surgery at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.  Allison Beattie raised £225 and the Foundation donated the remaining to allow for the purchase of two Portable Hip Spica’s. Well done Allison!
